My recent body of work, titled "The Modern Family in Today's America" is a photo documentary project based on my observations of family life in contemporary America. Now, when having a family is associated, or even equal with, giving up certain life style, many people pushed it away for later. In my body of work, I wanted to potrait those who made that choice. I chose three families to show how they managed daily struggles of family life. In my documentation of this subject, I wanted to capture how these people's lives are affected by this "new trend", and what kind of influence it has on their kids.
In addition, I wanted to take into consideration their distinct cultural and social backgrounds to explore how differently they approach a subject of raising children. Mainly, I focus on their children to show differences and similarities in their characters and behavior, shaped by theses unique background. With this project I wanted to show the reason for America being so unique as a country.
Along side my documentary projects, I'm working on continuation of my previous series
called "Staged Reality" where I take my audience to made up underground world where life goes on as it would on the ground. With these photographs I wanted to convey human's emotions of fear and curiosity of that what's different and unknown. Many of us follow their set path in life, sticking to what safe and apprehended. These photography are intended to provoke uneasiness by showing daily activities, like family having dinner, in bizarre places (a basement, a garage).
